ABOUT THE INSTITUTION 

The Ombudsman of Republika Srpska - Human Rights Protector is an independent institution that assists the citizens and the legal bodies to achieve or protect  their  legitimate rights, freedoms and legitimate interests in cases when it is violated by the authorities of RS and the organizations performing public services. 

The Ombudsman of  Republika Srpska is an institution established by the Law on RS Ombudsman adopted by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska on  08.02.2000. The first ombudsmen were appointed on 28.04.2000 by the then  Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina and started receiving the applicants on  30.11.2000. The Ombudsman is obliged to protect the human dignity, rights and freedoms as enshrined by the Constitution of BaH, the RS Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights.

Work of the Ombudsman is free of charge for the applicants.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


At the National Assembly's session held on 28.12.2004 elected was new Ombudsman, that is Ms Nada Grahovac representing Serb people, and her two deputies, Mr. Enes Hašić, who is representing Bosnian people and Mr. Milan Šubarić from Croat people.
 
The Ombudsman Institution has significant results and it helped many citizens to achieve their rights.
